Synn had heard of males bonding but she’d only heard of it. She knew her father’s bonding scent with her mahmen. When he got that loving look in his eye, that “come here leelan” look she knew what it meant. But she noticed that it meant more than just sex, it was an emotional aroma that was only for her. He smelled of sandalwood and jasmine. The Jasmine came from her mahmen’s soap that he loved.
Now she here, in her bed listening to her parents explain bonding and ALL that it entailed.
"Do you understand now Synn? The bonding that is?” Dhemonic was standing at the foot of her bed, completely exhausted from talking over Tehriny. “I need for you to understand me. This is very serious.”
“It’s more beautiful that someone’s trying to say.” Tehriny glanced over at her hellren and Synn smiled, hiding her fangs that she had still not gotten used to. “He forgets how so suddenly he bonded with me.”
“Totally…not the point Tehr.” Dhemonic ‘s voice wavered and again Synn laughed at her father. “The point is that you have to be a careful. Now this Rhage business—“
“What about it?” Synn asked with wide eyes but a firm tone. Then it hit her. “Oh, OH you think that—? That he—? Noooo,” Synn laughed as she shook her head in denial. “No way. He hates me.” She fell back on her large plush pillows and laughed at her parents who were not finding her revelation any no way funny. Her father’s straight face and her mahmen’s look of content told her to sit up and nod, which is exactly what she did.
“I get you, but I don’t think that he bonded with me.”
Tehriny sat down on the bed beside Synn and took her hand into hers. She held it tightly and smiled, “Synn, you remember that scent you smelled earlier? The funnel cake?”
Synn nodded waiting for the punch to the gut she knew was coming around the corner.
“Well sweetie…”
“His bonding scent.” Dhemonic said it as if he was tired of talking, but for some reason he’d never shut up. “And trust me he’s not wanting a mate.”
Synn’s interests piqued, “And how would you know this father?”
Dhemonic felt caught off-guard.
“Yes lover,” Tehriny asked with a half smile. “How would you know this exactly?”
After clearing his throat of the foot he’d placed in it Dhemonic straightened his back and spoke, “Because this brother is what they call a ‘lover of all’. He’s had so many females that there are stories written about him. He’s a whore Tehr! He’s not worthy to mate with our daughter. Now Allister he—“
“Is not here” Synn spoke so low that she barely heard herself. Father didn’t realize it but he had pierced her heart. And the truth of it it wasn’t about Allister. She had wanted to see the warrior again. She wanted to see that smile she had etched in her mind and he father had just blatantly told her that the male was a regular lothario of her race. He had stories? What male has stories?
“Synn?” Tehriny’s voice was tiny and she looked up at Dhemonic. He glare could have stabbed him in his chest.
“Synn—“ He started but Synn stopped him.
“If you don’t mind I think I need to sleep.” She eyed the clock. “It’s about four-forty-five. Sun will be up soon.” She slid her body further under the soft sheets and duvet. “Please turn the lights off when you leave.” Her voice was gone.
“Synn…”
“Let her rest.” Tehriny got up from the bed and watch her daughter turn her back to her. A part of her hurt for her young but what if her hellren was right? What if the warrior was not really interested in her daughter? That would just be another blow to her heart and Synn was too good for that. Catching Dhemonic by his shoulder she turned him and they left their newly transitioned daughter to her rest.
Synn had finally gotten used to her body. Nothing had really changed. She grew a few more inches and her body leaned out to nice muscle, leaving her curves in tact. She was happy of that. She loved her curves they were just a bit more accented now. As she stepped onto the bus she noticed a familiar face that had also changed.
“Mhace?” She sat down in the seat in front of him and he smiled. He was larger. Way larger than before. His hair was thicker, but she figured that was because it had grown. He had a cute shag that was so handsome on his face. Jaw line was fine and strong. His features were all male and Synn found something intriguing about that. His shoulders towered in the seat. Mhace appeared as if he would break the seat. Synn was waiting at any moment for the thing to fall into itself.
“Hey Synn.” Even his voice was deep and smooth. “Guess you’re not the only one that had an attack of the transtion eh.” He leaned over and Synn automatically took in a scent of AXE. The guy looked good.
“I—I guess not.” She laughed nervously. “It looks good on you.”
She nodded, “Same to you.”
There were murmurs from across the seats. Synn and Mhace’s heads snapped to the ones talking. Anthony and a few others were already talking.
Synn heard Mhace’s growl and she placed her hand on his large forearm. “It’s okay, we have to learn how to control our anger or else we’re no better than they are.” She made sure to look into his bright eyes and he grinned shyly, looking down in his lap.
“You’re right Synn.” He looked over at Anthony and his smiled quickly faded, “Just this once. I can’t make any promises next time.”
Synn looked over at the punk and flashed her fangs, “Me neither.”
They talked the entire ride to the compound and Synn realized that they had more in common than they thought. As they walked inside to the gym Synn slammed right into a wall of bricks. Falling back she looked up into those blue eyes and that sensual smile.
“Are you not used to your blood yet?” He smiled and before she could answer she was back on her feet.
“Are you okay?” Mhace checked her and made sure she was fine. She laughed it off and took her bag from him.
“I’m fine.” She shook her head and smiled at him. When she turned back to Rhage his smile was gone and he was looking at Mhace grimly. “I’m sorry for that.” Synn brought the warrior’s attention back to her and just like that he went back to smiling. “I was talking. I tend to do that sometimes.”
“Forget that you’re walking or running into others?”
Shrugging she answered wincing, “Both?”
“Does anyone smell that?” Mhace broke their stare with his sniffing. “It smells like—“
“Let’s go!” Synn pushed pass Rhage and hurried to the gym. “We’ll be late.” She couldn’t help but look back, right into his eyes. With the flick of his wrist he popped a lollipop into his mouth and headed down the hall.
Training was more strenuous on Synn and Mhace because they were carrying extra muscle and they were still getting used to moving around. Synn had practiced at home but she forgot that it was more intense when there was an actual person on the other end of the mat.
“Synnister!” Phury yelled from the edge of the gym. Synn stopped and turned on her heel. “I need twenty laps!”
Shaking her head, Synn took off around the gym. Suddenly Mhace was at her side keeping pace.
“Hey.” He breathed steady, “So I was wondering—you know that maybe—uhh, I mean perhaps you’d like to—“
“Go out?” Synn had to smile at his demeanor. He was so large and intimidating but such a softy at heart. Synn glanced over at him.
“Well…yeah.” He chuckled.
“I’d love to.” She then felt her face flush and her lips curled up into a smile.
They stopped on twenty, “Good, I’ll pick you up at nine tomorrow night?”
Synn nodded, “I’ll be ready.”
“Good.” He beamed all the way to the locker room
